These squishy Merphonies have just arrived in Phony City, starey-eyed and full of...bubbles. Life in the big city is going to be so different from their watery days in the Lagoon - but will it be better, or worse? Tell us all about them and their new homes, and they might even get a new owner - you!
For three weeks in a row, we'll ask you for information about these goldfish Mers and their new lives in the city. Each week's post counts as a raffle ticket, and the three posts collectively count as a contest entry. The contest winner gets their first pick, and the other two Phonies will be raffled off through the remaining tickets (yes, you can rush them all in the last week).
Price - FREE
There are THREE rounds in this contest, each put up on a Monday (30 May, 6 June, 13 June 2022).
The overall contest winner gets first pick, while the remaining Phonies will be raffled off with each round's entry as a ticket.
Only someone who enters all three rounds can win the contest, but entry for each round is counted as 1 ticket.

Personality:
Gunpowder Gold is a true artist, believing there is beauty in everything so long as one knows where to look. While his favorite pastime is practicing the art of kintsugi, he is also adept at general pottery, marble carving, and calligraphy. A quiet, stoic soul, you will find him in his workshop more often than anywhere else.
Dubloon is a tresaure obsessed phony, who believes he has been cursed by ancient pirate gold. His quest is to now search the lands and seas for all the pieces of the cursed hoard and reunite them so that he may be freed of his curse. Is there any truth to the tale? Who knows... though you may want to keep an eye on your valuables when he's around.
Endless Expanse has seen the wonders of the universe, and has never been quite the same since. At least, that's what she'll tell you. It's hard not to believe it when her wide eyes stare into the distance and she relays a nonsense prophecy in your general direction. You aaaalmost want to think what she is saying is true... almost.

Bubble and Squeak looks silly, but that's just a facade. Underneath those guileless eyes is a stomach the size of an ocean, and the mental chops to keep it forever satisfied. A champion eater and shrewd strategist, she knows all the tricks to get the most bang for her buck, whether she's in competition, or simply skiving off at the local diner.
No Filter is always looking toward the sky, wary of some strange precipitation, like coins sailing over his head and splashing into a pond. Fairytail : A little bit hard to deal with between truth or make believe, Fairytail is energetic and a good conversationalist. He truly believes that he's the most important one in the bowl. He has plenty of stories to tell about his adventures in finding food and treasures both in the water and outside (which are all made up stories since he has never once left phonycity at all). When eating with others, he'll prod at the food before having a taste, afraid others may have poisoned it.
Nibbles : Nibbles is always hungry. No matter how much they eat they don't feel full. Often times will stare at others with their mouth wide open hoping someone will feed them. Their shelves at home had already been vacuumed up by their big appetite... Nibbles is always interested in food eating competitions. One day she will surely take home the trophy to put in her room.
Spawn : Spawn had a thought but lost it. he had food but lost it. he had a friend but lost them too... is he lost? he sure looks lost... Spawn is a good guy and wants to become a novelist but his short memory leads other to believe that he is just a guppy that could use a friend or two.

Name: [ Jet Stream / Bubble Bauble / Puffed Up]
Personality: Jet Stream is a serious yet humble fellow enchanted by his dreams of flight. Hovering a foot or two off the ground isn't enough to satisfy his personal desire to one day touch the clouds. His day profession is a parking gate attendant at the Phonyland Airport but his true hobby is tinkering and gathering parts to craft his very own FlyingPhish jetpack (patent pending). With a reputation for being charming due to his slow, sweet and dulcet voice Jet's pleasant to talk to and also easy on the eyes. He can't stop thinking about his perfect romantic getaway by sailing smoothly in the sky... This hopeful pilot is certain that one day he'll have a honey of his own to cruise both the crystal blue waters and clear skies with.
Bubble Bauble is... odd. She is exactly what her heart dictates as her identity; nothing more and nothing less: a kleptomaniac with a hoarding tendency for anything colorful and round. She's not doing so well and she knows it but ohhhh... How can can she resist those SHINING CIRCLES of wheels and marbles and bracelets?! Anything bright and circular that she can take home to her personal treasure trove IS her passion and raison d'être! Some say her stare is almost blank and vacant, even reminiscent of a dead fish... but those observing Bubsy would be wrong. This clever girl is colder and more calculating than you'd think.
Puffed Up is a glamorous and overpraised merphony proud of his unique aesthetic prowess. He spends his days floating in the lagoon pruning and pompous, acting like a prime park attraction that provides a high-end experience for Phonyland guests with every breath he takes. He has a strong vendetta against the local waterfowl, ducks in particular, that always come to his side of the pond trying to snack on the pellets guests throw to him for free. Puff has no idea that what the onlookers are really paying to see is the literal biggest fish in the pond thrashing around (ie. making a fool of himself) trying to gobble up more food than the minnows and birds can get down in a feeding frenzy before he does. All he hears are the raucous cheers and applause from his "adoring fans". No one is more deserving of this prime real estate than him, living what he calls a life of luxury.

Name: Swim Shady, Fin Fin, Tuna Turner
Personality:
Swim Shady, a cautious fellow, is a nocturnal phony who only comes out at night. He believes that due to his darker coloration he can blend in better and meaner bigger phonies wont find him, thus he remains safe and sound from any and all terrors of life. Like taxes.
Fin Fin is a.... well he's a special phony. He tries so hard...and really he gets so very far... but in the end it really doesn't even matter. Because he's quite the clutz. That doesn't stop him from trying! However.... some phonies.... probably wish he really would stop trying.
Tuna Turner is a show gal through and through! Don't let that deer in headlights look fool you, she's got her eyes on the distant prize. With her flair, fancy fin work and amazing singing voice, she can lure all the critters in the sea to come get turnt! Downside is... she doesn't sound as good out of water. Whoda thunk?

Treasure is very excited about their new apartment. They even brought lots of travel souvenirs to decorate. Maybe even too many. The floors are covered in so much junk. But don't let them catch you calling it 'junk'. Or they'll get mad. The walls are covered with photos from trips; though the frames are tilted here and there. And they liked it so much, they decided to get a job doing the same thing. So now they work as a maid/house cleaner for hire.

In order to keep up appearances as a learned lover of literature and to make sure nobody can mistake him for anything else (unless it's a brooding hero in a Charlotte Bronco novel), Carp Diem has made sure his home is filled with books and scattered with random paraphernalia he's collected off people's lawns during garbage day. His apartment might look big and lavish but there's a terrible draft and it's probably haunted. Oh, he hopes it's haunted!

It doesn't pay well but he's not in it for the money. He's there for his students and to make sure they know,'The journey of a thousand miles begins with one stop'. Also because it gives him a captive audience for his poetry.
What's the first thing you're gonna spend your paycheque on? A fancy quill! Feather quills, ink and paper don't really last long at the lagoon. Carp Diem is excited to actually write stuff down and own things that don't immediately get ruined.

What job do you take on, and why?
Despite the oversaturation of food related businesses in Phonyland, Catch of the Day arrived wide-eyed and unfazed, immediately deciding to open up a fish and chip shop. Is that not... cannibalism? some may ask, as she serves up her latest catch with a side of freshly fried chips and a wedge of lemon. There's a painting on the wall above her depicting a big fish swallowing a much larger one. 'Order number 72,' is all she says. She hasn't blinked once since you arrived. It's the best fish and chips you've ever had.
What's the first thing you're gonna spend your paycheque on? A new fishing rod. She's been catching fish in her mouth and popping up out of the water with it thrashing about and too many people are asking health and safety questions.
Imagine Dragon
What job do you take on, and why? With all that swimming and jumping, Dragon decided to become a Phonyland Entertainer and was assigned to a big fountain where he leaps around, splashes children and imagines what he'll look like as a dragon.

What does your new home look like?
All That Glitters: Well, it's certainly... cozy. But that's just for now! Soon enough I'll figure out where best to pawn this treasure, and then I'll move to a stable that's worthy of my presence. In the meantime, however, I'll decorate my temporary abode with all of my treasure. I'm an expert at interior design, you know. When he found the listing for Parking Attendant at the Phonyland International Airport he knew he'd found the perfect opportunity. He gets to enjoy small talk with customers and help them find their way to their flight gate, while also enjoying the fine view of both passenger and commercial planes take off and land throughout the day. It keeps him busy but he enjoys the hard work- saving up for his goals is worth all of the effort!
What's the first thing you're gonna spend your paycheque on? Jet's first paycheck was spent on the essentials first- he wouldn't want to lose the roof over his head by missing rent or forgetting bills. The remainder is split between his savings account and bargain shopping.

Fancy Free finds himself in a tiny studio, nearly devoid of furniture...mostly because his landlord scammed him, but at least it means there's plenty of open space for him to move around in! After proudly lining one wall with mirrors (it's a home studio!), he seems to have run out of budget for decorating. However, the fire escape makes for a great pretend balcony for him to lounge about and look relaxed (he doesn't smoke; he was raised better than that!). He keeps his wardrobe, and his toiletries, in his suitcase still (there's nowhere else to put them, and it's shaped like a treasure chest!) but admittedly he hasn't managed to figure out how he's supposed to store food yet. It's a good thing his neighbors are awful kind people, and keep inviting him over for dinner!
Real estate may be pricy in Phony City, but Bubble and Squeak is a shrewd phony, and considers herself the queen of thrifting. Her space is colorful and cozy, filled to the brim with kitschy food-shaped furniture (okay, so that hamburger beanbag cushion isn't exactly a bed - but it's super comfy, and even though her cute peach blanket wouldn't make sense flavor-wise, it's super warm!). She keeps the curtains drawn to invite the light in, and the centerpiece of her home is the huge kitchen island. She has priorities, and if that means she's sleeping in a closet...at least she's living in style!
No Filter's new apartment is pretty no-frills: his furnishings all come straight from Phony Ikea, but he's got all the necessities. He uses DIY decor to keep the walls a little less bare, and managed to finagle some friends into customizing some of his furniture. He's not too bothered, though; he spends most of his time in the park cloudgazing anyway, so as long as everything's neat at home it's all good. He does keep a shelf stocked with knick knacks he picked up on his journeys; mostly beat up items that probably should've been returned to their owner instead of kidnapped into a memento. Finder's keepers!
