Title: MMitT Thunderdome Audience Talk ORP
Post by: Ph0ny on June 04, 2021, 02:09:03 PM
The location stated on the flyer turns out to be a seedy backalley. Babby contenders, and spectators - whether Phony or human, are blindfolded by a suspicious Phony in a dark fedora and a trenchcoat, then prodded through a series of passages, until they're shoved to a stop. There is a sense of movement. An interminable wait.

Then there is more prodding and passages. When the blindfolds come off, the spectators will see - that the contenders are no longer with them - and the sizeable auditorium that lies before them. It is dark, but a single spotlight shines strong above, right onto the wrestling ring in the middle of the hall.

It is also strong enough for the spectators to pick out the scattering of the promotional posters is plastered on the walls, with one sole red banner fastened high, attempting to look festive, and the foldable chairs surrounding a barrier erected a respectful (safe) distance away from the ring.

One could call the layout cheap, but one could also call it rather efficient, given that not all the ungulates attending might want to sit on their hindquarters with their forelegs dangly - but of course, they are welcome to, and they are also welcome to clear two-legger chairs away and sit/stand around on all fours.

The chairs are steel.

Spectators might also be able to pick out that all entrances appear to be padlocked. You are here for the long run. There is a refreshment stand in the corner, with drinks and snacks at modestTM prices.

It appears most have accepted their fates. Some hold a cheap xerox of the tournament brackets, seeking a pen. Some sit waiting, munching on popcorn. There is a mix of humanoids and Phonies spectators alike, here to spectate the upcoming spectacle.

Royal Blossom sat at the very front ready for the event. Around her head was a headband with "ROGUE" written prominently across the front. At her sides were two signs on long poles. The sign on her left read ROGUE, the one on her right GALLERY. On the back of the signs, the word CHAMPION was split between them. Directly beneath the signs, several bells were tied up that jingled at the slightest movement. The sticks the signs were attached to are, in actuality, extremely long glow sticks that were already brightly shining green.

"LET'S GOOOOOOO!" Royal bellowed, her magic raising her two signs up and waved them vigorously, causing quite a ruckus.

"I cannot BUH-LEIVE you allowed your daughters to do this!!" Valkyrie hissed to her husband as they found a spot to sit. "What were you THINKING???" @cursedwanderer

Reaper walked into the auditorium looking incredibly smug.  Of course his darling girls were going to enter and they were going to beat the snot out of these other foals.  The stallion was extremely proud of his children somewhat following in his footsteps.  When they'd asked for his permission in secret he'd happily agreed and done his best to give them some pointers, even convincing his oldest daughter, System Error, to join in on the coaching.

The carousel was all smiles... Until his wife found out.

The stallion turned sheepish, herding his son beneath him as he suffered Valk's wrath.

"C'mon Valk," he whined.  "Don't you want them to be able to protect themselves from assholes?"

Grimoire was perfectly comfortable with inflicting pain on others, but he wasn't interested in using his hooves to do it.  Magic was always his forte and he'd of vastly preferred if this had been a more of a battle of magical skill.  While many of his family members were excellent fighters, he found it to be barbaric and thus relegated himself to audience member rather than participant.  He was content to cheer on his sisters (and maybe use magic to sabotage other competitors from his place in the crowd).

The colt kept his head high as he walked in between his parents and elder sister, confident of his family's superiority in the art of war.  One of his sister's would win, he was sure of it.  The question to him was just which?

Eyes gleaming, he turned his gaze from the ring towards his parents.

"Mother, what will you do if they get hurt?"

Regal sat next to her mother, a hat forced on her that read GO ROGUE and a tiny flag in one hoof. She sighed, watching her mother with side eye and duck face. Where was Synth and why was she here? Why she, of all siblings, had to come along? Wouldn't Minty be better for this? Or perhaps Bijou? She did agree that it was about time Rogue found himself in life and caught up to the rest of them but still. She had costumes to model. "Uhg Mother why are you so annoying?" she facehoofed, using her magic to wave the tiny flag and let out the most un enthused "Yay." anyone could muster.

@Astraea

Cotton Fluff frowned as she walked around the edges of the seats. She eyed all the various parents, siblings, humans and other old enough's here and frowned harder. A plushie sat on her back, controlled via her magic to wave a tiny banner that read 'Stop Child Violence!'. "Don't worry little ones, I'll save you!" she called out to the crowed, her pig tails billowing impressively in the...... fake generated wind? What? Who put a giant fan here?

Oh no her plush!

"Oh No, Beary Buttletons The Fourth, come back!"

Shockstar simply frowned at the ring. He had been mislead. Again.
Sighing, he took a seat and sat down, pressing his hooves into his head. "Children?!?! You all fight CHILDREN?!?! This isn't how this works!"  he cried. "This isn't how any of this works!!!" he groaned, finally settling down and peeking out into the ring. Maybe one of the foals would put on a heckin good show though. Guess he could stay and watch. Still though, where in Phonyland were the dang monster battles? Arg.

System Error settled into one of the cold metal seats, tail coiling around one of the legs as faint amusement showed on her face.

Pitting children against each other in a no holds barred wrestling tournament?  It was so comical she had openly laughed when she'd heard about the event.

Knowing her family, the mer was not terribly surprised to hear that at least some of her siblings had entered the tournament.  The kids were certainly spunky and Error held no ill will towards her younger siblings.  Some might even dare to say she liked them.

Looking over the brackets with a keen eye she called to her parents.  "Papa, I don't think your little princess is going to have much luck.  She's gotten rather poor placement.  If she somehow manages to win a couple matches the people running this circus were cruel enough to put her in line to fight Aegis down the road."

With nothing against Requiem, Error did hold Aegis in a bit higher esteem.  There was just something more about her other sister that resonated with her and she appreciated the filly seeking her out for advice.

"Yes, a brilliant question Grim." she said shooting Reaper daggers. "What does happen if they get hurt? I wonder who should have considered that BEFORE now." She snorted.

"I WANT them to learn to fight honorably! There is very little honorable about any of this! What is this?" She examined the form left in one of the metal chairs near her and studied it. "Weird, really strange cryptogram.." She turned the brackets upside down and sideways, examining it closer.

@cursedwanderer

Royal shot her daughter a look, one that seemed slightly..deranged? She grinned. "We're going to cheer so loud that Rogue will hear us wherever it is he's waiting. And we will out shout, out cheer, out everything anyone else is doing. Do. You. Under. Stand?" her tone was light but her face was an inch away from her daughters', her golden eyes drilling into Regal's soul.

Reaper winced under his wife's glare and son's questioning.

"Valk, I-"  The large stalliion squirmed uncomfortably and glanced down at his son.  "If it's life or death it's better for our children to choose dishonor and life then honor and fucking death.  It shouldn't matter how they fight as long as they win."  And that was a sentiment the stallion could certainly stand behind.  If it were up to him he would want his daughters to do whatever it was in their power to protect themselves, honor be damned.  Hell, he'd be happy for them to tag him in to fight for them.

The carousel glanced towards Error and scowled.  "Bastards.  Maybe I should go find who set this up and ensure that they know who the proper winners are."

Grim smirked to himself, trotting out from under his father's wing to take a seat beside his elder sister.  The colt flinched for a moment as his rump touched the cold seat.

He was certainly satisfied with his father's answer of win at all costs, but he could respect that his mother had rules.  Rules just happened to be for other people.  He'd hoped his mother would of been a bit bolder.  They were strong carousels, others should look at them in awe and fear.

Glancing at the bracket flyer, he slightly wished his sisters luck.  Friends he might not have, but his sisters were his allies.  He would do almost anything for them as long as it wasn't to his detriment.  Maybe he could use his magic to trip their opponents if he got the chance.

Paladin wasn't sure what came over him when he invited Bright Gallery to the event. Honestly, he hadn't thought it'd be as seedy as it was -- he was sure it was all a hoax, played up as an act. He felt wretched when blindfolds covered the two, bristling as he found himself pressing gently into Bright Gallery's shoulder; protective and uncertain. When the two were released he glanced about, pondering what his mother would think if she knew what 'an after school activity' truly had meant. He hadn't lie -- he never lied --, he just... hadn't been as honest.

He didn't think he had to be!

"I'm sorry, Bright Gallery -- I really thought it was all a ruse! Are you okay? How do you feel?" He had invited her in hopes to help her with crowds, not to... torment her. Would she ever trust him again?

Regal had always knew moms could unlock some kind of secret magic voodoo on their kids.

But this was a whole new level.

Her face even more of a duck face, now combined with puffed out cheeks like a chipmunk, Regal did everything she could to inch away from Royal but it wasn't working. That glare into her soul almost made her quiver and Regal suddenly began making her banner wave faster. "Go Rogue, kick some tail, you got this bro, WOOO!" she screamed, her hair eyes wide as she tossed her head back in an odd fashion trying to seem imposing. Or at least make Royal happy... for the time being. "Aahaa....ah.... yes...mother?" she gulped, wishing Synth were here right now to save her.

Wrastlin!!  It was what gave his down time meaning.  Normally Kit could only watch matches on TV, yelling at the small screen as The Boulder delivered a landslide takedown!! More than once he'd had to sweep up a whole bowl of popcorn.  But finally there was a match going on in phonyland!  The whole process of being blinded folded just excited him more.  He loved this.  Granted it wasn't The Boulder or Bulk Slogan but hey, wrastlin was wrastlin.

The large brown splotted draft sat in a seat with a large drink and big tub of popcorn.  He was so excited.  "WOOO!  I can't wait for the action!  Lets get ready ta rumble!" he called out before stuffing his mouth with popcorn.

(https://mylittlephony.citycyb.org/phony/regrind.png)Regrind had the day off and saw the advertising for this event had stretched all the way outwards to even his part of town.  Having nothing else to do and curious as to why they'd let little sprouts wrestle like it's 1999 was enough to bring him out to this event.  The whole establishment felt like walking into a time capsule, that alone was enough to convince him to stay and watch.

"Come and sit here, mother," Mossflower offered, guiding the half-asleep Phony over to one of the steel chairs and settling her in with a cushion and a blanket. With her legs doing a dingle-dangling, the older Phony seemed completely out of place, especially with how she kept sleepily tilting to the side and Mossflower had to keep a hoof constantly on her shoulder to stop her from slumping to the ground.

But Yawn had insisted. If her oldest and sweetest babby was going to bravely wrestle a bunch of other kids she was going to be there. Not to mention her granddaughter (who she was far less worried about).

As for Mossflower, there was no way she was going to miss her dutiful daughter's wrestling debut. She was there to offer her support and no doubt scream like crazy when Bushido came into the ring.

Oathkeeper had placidly endured the entry and blindfolding then found her way to a good spot close to the ring where she could get a great view of the show.  They had been training hard and preparing just for this moment and she was ready to see it all in action. Aegis was going to smash heads into the ground and Oathkeeper could hardly wait.

Oh -- it wasn't a joke.

The tickets had been shoved into her hooves by a random somephony, and Kiwi had taken the laughter as indication it was a performance piece or something silly. Now, she wondered if it had been nervous laughter, and the tickets hadn't even been needed! Maybe she had been bamboozled by someone advertising with false tickets, or perhaps a friend had played a prank on her -- whatever the case was she had just gotten herself and Happy Endings blindfolded and dragged into the most shady of places.

"Oh, Happy, I'm truly sorry! I hadn't thought it'd actually be as the paper said -- are you alright?" She turned to her companion, fixing a loose strand of her own hair. Happy had been the phony who, unfortunately, had seen her right after she obtained the tickets, and thus had the tickets presented to him with thoughts of it being a fun experience. Well, this could certainly be fun, but Kiwi Kiss was docking points for the messy blindfolding. Her hair needed fixing, and fast!

"And to think they locked us in! Well, we'll need to settle in. Did you need anything? Refreshments? Snacks?"

Lucky Egg: Lucky darted through the amassing crowd trying to spot a familiar face. Mossflower had mentioned that two of her kiddos would be participating in the babby fight club. She was unsure of how she felt about that, but was a little curious... plus this was a great opportunity to spend some time with Moss outside of work/shelter obligations. Spotting her friend she made her way into the stands quickly. "Is this seat taken?" The flutter gave a smile and a little wave. .

Bijou Blende: Babby Thunderdome? That sounded....intense. There was buzz that her brother Rogue was going to be a part of today's activities and she wanted to show her support. She showed up and found the small army of her family already in the stands. She scooted her way up there and found a place among them. She spun a noise maker and joined in the revelry. "Woohoo!~"

@Astraea @Fealine and Ruri again.

While Happy Endings was not a fan of wrestling, he was pretty sure the sport didn't involve this.  When the blindfold went on two thoughts went through the stallion's mind.  That they were being kidnapped or that Kiwi had tricked him into going to some weird BDSM club.

"I'm going to have to charge for this," he muttered under his breath as he was led by the mysterious stranger who had blindfolded him.

When the blindfold was removed the flutter was just as baffled.  It was wrestling all right, but for... Babbies?  The stallion quirked a brow before looking towards his date.  Well, there was something for everyone he supposed.  If children fighting was her thing he'd do his best not to complain about it.

"I'm fine," he said curtly, attempting to fix the mess the blindfold had made of his mane.  "But, if the cops come to bust this place I was never here."

The stallion gave a brief laugh before he registered her words.  They'd locked them in?  Maybe they had been kidnapped.

"What's the likelihood of the snacks being poisoned?"

Kiwi saw the quirk of his eyebrow, laughing lightly.

"Oh no you don't -- I see that look. This is definitely not my idea of fun, but we're here and stuck." She faintly laughed at his joke, noting his tone with a glance. Yeah, he wasn't happy. She didn't blame him.

"100%," she answered, although that didn't stop her from heading over to the stands. "I'm absolutely parched, so if you want anything let me know. I don't know how... long this is going to be. I doubt you'll trust me next time with invitations."

Next time she was sure to do her research!

"Not at all," Mossflower began to say as she stopped Yawn from nose-diving the ground, only half-focused on who was speaking. "It's all-" yours she had been about to say but a delighted, 'Lucky!' squeaked out instead when she turned around.

She had invited her friend but hadn't really expected her to show up. It was hard to sell a back alley babby fight as a fun activity but Mossflower had mentioned it hopefully anyway, that if Lucky Egg wanted to come too she would appreciate the company.

"It's so good to see you!"

She grinned and shifted a little to show off Yawn.

"This is my mother, Yawn!"

The sleepy unicorn turned a kindly half-lidded gaze towards the Flutter. "It's... it's lovely to meet you," she yawned. It was always wonderful when she got to meet her children's friends.

Lucky Egg giggled as Mossflower squeaked in surprise. She turned to greet the sleepy pony named Yawn, surprised to be meeting her mother. "Oh hello there!~  My name is Lucky Egg." She chirped happily and then found her seat next to the two of them. "Mossflower has been helping me around my animal shelter lately. She is something special!" She smiled softly. "Moss, you will have to point out your kiddos for me so I can cheer for them with you!" Lucky said with an excited tail flick trying to get a good look around.

At the compliment Mossflower blushed and Yawn gave a soft sleepy chuckle. "She is very special," the older Phony agreed, gently ruffling her daughter's hair fondly.

"It's been wonderful helping out at the shelter." Mossflower dipped her head away just to hide the heat on her cheeks. There shouldn't have been this many butterflies just from a friend meeting her mother but there they were.

Lucky Egg mentioned her kids was a great distraction and she nodded eagerly. "Oh yes! Bokeh and Bushido are both giving it a go. My older brother is also joining in, so it's a bit of a family affair." She looked towards the ring. "Honestly I'm surprised Bokeh and Bloom entered at all but I'm excited they want the challenge!"

She leaned a bit closer to Lucky Egg and whispered, "not to play favourites but I think Bushido had an edge over the other two. She does martial arts in her spare time." Mossflower was wearing a very proud smile. "She's been roleplaying her ninja persona the last few days. It's adorable."

the big guy had seen scraps of paper scattered inside the circus' floor about this supposedly secret event  that's not so secret since there were a lot of spectators all waiting for the battles to start. twitching his 'stache he picked up some popcorn and picked a spot close to the ring. he didn't care if he blocked anyphony's view and sat down. he's here to watch the show on his day off.

not too far from him he sideglanced at the bickering carousel couple with their fancypants looking friends. he must admit that the gal with the mirror on the flank was stunning. coolly, he threw two popcorn at her tail as if thrown by mistake. trying his best, he bit his bottomlip stop himself from laughing as he waited for her to yell at him. any moment now..he said to himself...

a small silhouette sneeked inside the secret hallway she had seen some adult phonies get ushered inside. when there is juicy new events happening, you bet Cossi will find a way to investigate. Hiding her small video camera inside the compartment of her hoverboard, she secretly takes it out and recorded the wrestling ring and the glimpses of spectators and recorded herself as she whispered "wicked!" into her camera. quickly she hid it away and pretended she was part of the unfortunate crowd that got locked inside this secret fighting dome. She pretended to be shocked too, and went to grab a fizzy drink and sipped through a straw as if her mouth was dry.

Regal had been half heartedly waving her flag since her mother seemed to have been distracted by other things, waiting for a prime moment to set it down and take out her hand held mirror instead. She noted Bijou was also here and let out a small sigh of relief. "Oh, cheer for us both please darlin?" she smiled, batting her lashes at her sister, each blink feeling like they were about to just melt off her face.

This place was just awful and wasn't doing wonders for her complexion. Sighing, she used her magic to open the mirror and float it before herself at various angles, looking at her mane until she noticed something hit her tail.

Turning around, she spotted two pieces of buttery popcorn in her tail and she gasped loudly. "AAAHK!" she screamed, glancing around until she spotted a big draft with a mustache and a bag of popcorn. Clearly he did it because he was the first she saw. "HOW... DARE YOU. CAN YOU NOT FIND YOUR MOUTH?" she shrieked, her cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk. Why wasn't Synth here with her?? Hadn't he got her message?? "Moooothhheeeerrr!" she whined, turning back to Royal with the most pathetic look on her face.

There were a lot of converdsations between whispers and loud screaming and the popcorn machine popping popcorn like it was on its last run that Mucho couldn't really pick up what anyphony is saying. Plus the humming of electricity to keep the blinding lights on made it quite close to impossible to eavesdrop anyone. he hoped that things will quiet down once the contestants show up...

Kind of coolly having his bag of popcorn on the empty seat beside him, he leaned over as he watched the gal scream. it was just a little butter. not gum or icecream at least. to him it was no big deal but not once have he seen any phony act SO dramatic like her.

Seeing that she was actually looking at him in distress made him feel a little tiny bit guilty. but he didn't want to get near the dark winged one. he looked like trouble and just nonstop trouble.

"Oh. Huh. I guess i DID miss my mouth," he called out back at her. "Should I try to aim again? " he asked as he threw the tiniest popcorn from his bag at her back leg.. somehow, he chuckled out loud as he just crushed on her from a few seats down. why from all days did it have to be here and today to run into a pretty yet whiny girl? he wondered. i want to watch this long awaited babbin bab fights...

"As long as I don't get murdered or maimed this may turn out alright," Happy said with a teasing pout.  This was a date, which meant he needed to turn on the charm and turn off the sass, even if there was a high likelihood that they might get murdered at this weird event.

The flutter scoped out the room.  The exits being locked had been a terrible sign, but he did have wings.  Maybe there was some opening he could simply just fly out of if he needed.  Besides the ring and the crowd he couldn't help but spot the small window which a phony stood behind exchanging money for bits of paper.

Gambling.  The stallion's eyes glittered with interest.

"Maybe if the snacks are good and I can make some money off the gambling I'll overlook this obvious lack of judgement" he chuckled, giving a nod towards the betting stall.  "Popcorn would be good, but I'm interested to know if you have any insight on who might win?"

"Ninja pjs.... Oh my gosh, that is so adorable." Lucky said squeeing at the thought of cute babby pajamas.

The matches up were announced and the fights took place quickly afterwards. One. Two. Three. Four!! Four fights back to back. Lucky was on the edge of her seat. She kept looking back and forth from the arena to Mossflower. She had no idea what he kids looked like so she was just waiting to see her friend freak out. It was hard to tell who was who since they all had wrestling names. In the final fight, the little green phony stumbled and knocked the lil purple guy out of the rink. "Did you see that!? That was crazy. What an elegant sommersault." The flutter said clearly impressed with his fumble.

The arrival of the fights was very exciting and Mossflower was waiting eagerly to see if any of her children were in this lot and when the final fight rolled around, there he was, her little boy!

"THAT'S MY BOY BOKEH!" Mossflower yelled, giving the Flutter beside her an excited shake on the shoulder, her gaze glued to the fight. "KNOCK HIM OUT!" She wasn't normally a supporter of babby on babby violence but when it came to seeing her child in the wrestling ring stumble-knocking another kid out of the fight, she was all for it.

"GOOD JOB! YEAH!"

Meanwhile Yawn had produced a little flag from somewhere and was much more sedately waving it back and forth with a sleepy smile.

"YES!! GOOD JOB! DO IT AGAIN REQ..ui..em....ahem." She noticed that her reaction had cleared a small circle around her and her family. She settled back down again, and gave Reaper the side eye.

"Is this where everyone is?" Blade Waltz made his appearance by plopping down between Bijou and Regal, draping arms around both sisters shoulders and giving them squeezes. "I saw mom making these signs so I followed her here and well...I guess we're trapped here together!" He looks around, taking stock of the venue and those present.

"Has Rogue lost yet?"

Royal clapped politely for all the other winners and losers, but any downtime she had she picked up her signs and rattled them loudly, screaming her sons name.

"ROOGUUUEEEEEEE!"

After her cheering spasm, the unicorn wiped her brow and sat back down. It was so long before her baby boy got his time to shine. But his family was gathering to cheer him on. Her chest puffed proudly.

"Blade, he has not lost yet! He hasn't even had his first match yet." Her son laughed and waved his hoof in a "ok whatever" gesture. She whirled to her daughter.

"Regal darling, just carefully pick it out of your tail and wash it thoroughly when you get home. We can't even leave so you're just going to have to cheer and endure."

Her eyes drifted across the crowd and oh, was that...it was!

"Oath!!!!" she called across the masses and made a beeline for her granddaughter. "How unexpected! Did you come here also to cheer for your uncle??" She looked at the other with large, twinkling eyes full of happiness.

Popcorn? She could do popcorn -- especially the caramel kind. A faint laugh escaped her, hoof waving.

"Say no more," she purred, eyes briefly lost to view her surroundings. "An order of popcorn coming right up."

At his last question she tilted her head side to side, noting the loud and enthusiastic encouragement of a Unicorn with a sign. Rogue? Wait -- that wasn't their mother, was it? What could she judge, anyway? She had quite literally dragged Happy to baby wrestling.

"Val-Hollow -- apparently they're the talk around here. One of them, anyway. Sounds like a fierce name, doesn't it? I wonder if the kids picked them themselves...." Her voice faltered as she was crowded against by another spectator, wings clinging to her sides in an attempt to protect them. Oh, this was not the playful event she had thought it'd be.

She slipped free from Happy Endings with a smile and promise to be right back, fluttering quite literally off to gather popcorn. The match began during her pursuit, although Kiwi was neither a liar or easily deterred, keeping her spot in line even as she craned her neck to peek over the crowd. The shouts of the audience drowned out any attempt she made at trying to sort through her feelings over the entire thing, and -- honestly --, it was entertaining.

The kids didn't look too worse for wear, anyway.

It was just... well, morally conflicting.

She made her way back to Happy with two bundles of popcorn -- one with butter and the other with caramel. "For you," she hummed, swiftly handing over his snack for the evening. "I think a few of these ponies are their parents. Can you believe it?"

Oathkeeper was watching the other kids fights but she didn't really care. Some of them seemed to be putting up a good fight but none of them were actually trained for battle. Heck, that little dude had won by stumbling and knocking the other babby out of the ring.

This really wasn't the fight to the death that she'd hoped for but at least that meant Aegis was obviously going to clean up the competition, if you could even call it that. They were more like sacrifices.

She was impatiently tapping a hoof as she waited for the next round to start when the older Phony approached her with a big joyous smile and Oath frowned as she was forcibly reminded that she had other family members other than her mother, uncle and siblings.

"Uh... hey.... grandmother," she said, disliking how awkward she felt.

Wait, her uncle was fighting? Oh boy.

She didn't even remember what he looked like.

"I am here to cheer," she said, an odd statement that was not untrue, she just hadn't specified who for.

Reaper stared at Valk with a smug face as she cheered and screamed.  Pride welled up within him as his daughter took out not one but two rounds of competition.

"Don't say what?"  He teased, leaning towards her.  She had to admit he was right now after seeing Requiem's reaction.  "You seem to really be enjoying yourself for someone who was complaining about honor a short while ago."

The stallion smirked and crossed his arms, leaning back in his seat.

"Looks like our girls might be bringing home the gold."
